Cradle Coast Triathlon and Multisport had a great day at the State Aquathlon Championships in Launceston on Saturday. CCTM had a huge contingent of athletes providing about half the competitors at the Championships.
The TryStars event which consisted of a 100metre Swim and 1.25km Run finished with a CCTM quinella. Anya Louw took the win to be crowned Under 12 State Aquathlon Champion, while Inighion Quinn was a very close 2nd. Both girls looked strong on the hilly run course and had excellent transitions.
Hannah McCormick had a great race in her debut Aquathlon in the Novice event completing a 250metre Swim and 2km hilly Run. CCTM athletes again managed to finish 1st and 2nd in the Novice event with Matt Gaby being crowned 2011 State Champion and Fraser Lyon finishing in 2nd place not far behind.
In the Open race all CCTM athletes raced hard over the 1km Swim and 6km Run course. Brady Butcher and Amelia Pearson both led out of the water before being overtaken in the run by Launceston up and coming athletes Dylan Evans and Natalia Smith respectively. A silver medal was a great results for Brady and Amelia, who had both been out on the bike earlier in the day.
Aaron Wise also had a great race and ran very well over the hilly 6km course.
Greg Walker and Graham Barr finished the day with a sprint finish (see photo above) and Greg was left a little worse for wear after the race (see photo below).
Greg and Amelia completed a 150km ride over hills before the Aquathlon (see above for the end result).
Congratulations to Dylan Evan's who took the win and was crowned State Aquathlon Champion for 2010-11.
